The University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine is conducting a faculty search for an exceptional emergency physician at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level in either a clinician/educator or clinician/researcher track to serve as the Residency Program Director.
The fully-accredited, PGY 1-3 residency training program in Emergency Medicine at UC Davis School of Medicine / UC Davis Health was founded in 1990 and currently has 60 residents, including 15 integrated active duty U.S. Air Force residents. The UC Davis Medical Center Emergency Department provides comprehensive emergency services to a large local urban and referral population as an adult and pediatric Level One Trauma and Regional Burn Center, paramedic base station, and training center. All faculty members are required to provide both bedside and didactic teaching to residents, medical students, and other learners rotating through the Emergency Department. In addition to UC Davis Medical Center, residency training sites include three Northern California Kaiser Permanente hospitals, Mercy San Juan Medical Center (Dignity Health), Shriners Hospital for Children Northern California, and Mather VA Medical Center.
Responsibilities of the position include direct oversight and mentorship of the Associate Program Director, Assistant Program Director, and Program Coordinator. The Program Director will also:
• Provide leadership and vision across all aspects of residency education, including clinical, educational, research, and ACGME accreditation activities.
• Implement innovative curriculum design and assessments across multiple education platforms including in-person, online, asynchronous learning, flipped classrooms, and simulation.
• Promote growth of resident scholarly activities.
• Develop and ensure optimal resident experiences with all departments and institutions.
• Represent the residency program and its interests.
Requirements include M.D. degree or equivalent, Board Certification in Emergency Medicine with valid CA Medical License or eligibility for licensure, and successful experiences in leadership positions.
