The Department of Emergency Medicine at VCU Health is seeking a Vice-Chair for Education to provide overall leadership and coordination of the Department’s education mission – to include undergraduate medical education, graduate medical education (residency and fellowships), and other educational initiatives. The Vice-Chair will assist the Chair in fostering an environment that values and supports educational programs. The role will also provide career development, mentoring, support and guidance for faculty whose focus is on these educational program. The educational residency and fellowship program directors, clerkship directors, and their administrative staff will also report to the Vice-Chair for Education. VCU Health is a Level 1 Trauma Center in Richmond, VA.

Qualified candidates must be a faculty member in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the rank of Associate Professor or above. Applicant should have previous experience in educational leadership for a minimum of 5 years (i.e., medical student clerkship director, program director, or similar). Must demonstrate interest, commitment and leadership in education with excellent communication skills. The Vice-Chair of Education must maintain the above duties as their primary focus of academic responsibility. Must be willing to function at a high managerial level, and demonstrate scholarship and achievement in the domain of education.
