Wayne State University School of Medicine Department of Emergency Medicine and Medical Center Emergency Services are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our faculty in the position of Residency Program Director at Detroit Receiving Hospital (DRH) Emergency Medicine Residency program. DRH is Michigan’s first Level I Trauma Center, is a constant and innovative force in the evolution of emergency medicine. DRH hosts one of the busiest and most well-equipped emergency departments anywhere, training nearly half of practicing emergency medicine physicians in Michigan. The oldest and largest verified burn center in the state is at DRH and is one of only 63 in the country. DRH is part of the Detroit Medical Center and Tenet Healthcare and treats over 86,000 patients per year. Emergency Medicine residents also rotate at other hospitals throughout the DMC to fulfill educational, curricular, clinical and research opportunities. Rank is commensurate with academic and/or clinical experience. Compensation and benefits are highly competitive.
The Residency Program Director (PD) will have authority and accountability for the successful operation of the residency program and will administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating the residents in accordance with ACGME policies and regulations, assuring the program’s excellence and delivery of the highest quality graduate medical education. This individual will provide the leadership in developing, implementing and continually updating plans for recruitment, will actively participate in program administrative management, curriculum reform and resident education and evaluation, in line with departmental academic goals. The PD must be familiar with and comply with ACGME and Review Committee policies and procedures as outlined in the ACGME Manual of Policies and Procedures. Qualified candidates should have a proven track record demonstrating commitment to education, leadership and scholarship and must be an experienced emergency physician with Board certification. They will be employed by Wayne State University and Medical Center Emergency Services and will require licensure to practice medicine in the State of Michigan. Applicant should have significant teaching experience in academic emergency medicine, broad based knowledge of current trends in emergency medicine, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity.
